The most common fault I find in all standards of golfers is bad technique in the set up and grip. While making a balanced set up with a good grip doesn't guarantee a good golf swing it goes a long way to helping the swing improve. With this in mind I have dedicated the first eight weeks to the set up and grip. Good luck and hard practising.

Alignment of Feet and Shoulders

Feet Open, Shoulders Closed(dia 1) Feet Closed, Shoulders Open(dia 2) Good Alignment(dia 3) Good Posture(dia 4)
When making your setup getting your feet and shoulders square to target is vitally important. (Dia 1) Shows the feet open and the shoulders closed, while the opposite is shown in (dia 2). These are the worst senario's causing the hips and shoulders not to work together. Ultimately this will cause you to manipulate your swing. A good alingment shown in (dia 3 and 4) encourages the correct amount of body rotation allowing the hips and the shoulders to work together.

This lesson will be followed up next week with alignment of feet and shoulders, working together.
